Life has been so crazy lately that many of us may not have realized that we just passed the official start of spring. In normal times, it is everyone is making that extra push in fitness centers as they get ready for summer,  but with fitness centers closed everywhere, it is a lot more challenging this year. So what can we do?

We are all trying to find ways to maintain good health and stay fit during these unusual days when most of us are at home.  Whether you are heading outdoors for your fitness fix or prefer to work out in the comfort of your own home, there are lots of ways to stay active during this Covid-19 shutdown. As the saying goes, "There's an app for that!"  Whether it is full workouts on video, audio motivation or just tracking your fitness, there is something for everyone.

Here are four great fitness apps that can help you plan a fitness routine, keep you motivated and track your workouts.

    Peloton

One app that I just downloaded is Peloton, who just expanded their free trial to 90 days. You might know them as an online cycling community, but they also offer a variety of other types of classes for all levels. They have a full library of classes such as yoga, meditation, strength, cycling, running. Classes are on video or they offer audio workouts for outdoor activities such as jogging.

My home stationary bike is not a Peloton,  but I still used the app for a cycle workout. I also did one of their weight workouts with dumbbells and one of their yoga classes. I enjoyed all of their classes and their instructors are very motivating. You can choose your level and length of workout from their online menu. Toward the end of your 90 days, you can cancel or it is 12.99 per month.

    My Virtual Mission

My Virtual Mission is a free app that helps you log your miles running, walking, biking or hiking.  It can even be used as a fundraiser.

    From Their Site:

Create your mission on our planning map. If you want, you can set your mission up as a fundraiser for a charity or your own cause or you can elect not to fundraise with your mission at all.

Then just go out and do your usual exercise such as walking, running, swimming, cycling or whatever and log each of your distances into your mission page or smartphone app.

Your progress along your mission path will be updated and you'll get to see just how far you've gone and how far you've got to go.

You'll be obsessing about exercising in no time!

    Daily Yoga

Whether you are just starting yoga or you are at an advanced level, you will fund hundreds of classes and asanas on this app. I actually have this app and use it myself. The video is very clean and step-by-step instructions guide you through every movement.  The app also includes more than 50 workout plans to help you get fit with yoga, a global community to stay motivated, and regularly updated content.
