This is a sad story, because a police officer is supposed to be a role model for the community, someone who abides by the law. But, Victor Tweedle, a 49-year-old AC cop, got busted around dinner time on Wednesday, March 29th trying to scam the EHT Walmart Supercenter for more than $50 worth of food, according to Press of Atlantic City.

Tweedle was reportedly at the self-checkout where he was accused of intentionally failing to scan all of his items. A suspicious employee called EHT police.

Atlantic City police Lieutenant Kevin Fair tells Press of AC still has a job with the department, but has been placed on administrative assignment (Is that cop-speak for 'desk duty'?), where he'll stay until his case plays out in court. Internal Affairs is also reportedly investigating the incident.

Press of AC revealed Tweedle's reported cop salary, more than $90k a year, including a pension. He  has an upcoming court appearance tomorrow. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and we hope maybe this is all just an unfortunate misunderstanding.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
