Atlantic City Cops Honored for Saving Woman Held at Knife-Point

Two Atlantic City Police officers were honored for their bravery this week in a dangerous situation involving a man holding a woman at knife-point in a home in the city.

The Atlantic City Police Department awarded two officers for showing bravery while dealing with a dangerous domestic situation.

Police report that they were called to a home on Maryland Avenue on April 24th, where a man was holding a woman at knife-point.

Officers Andres Ayala-Cabrera and Azale Carter-Reynolds arrived and heard a female pleading for help from inside the house.

The officers took off their service revolvers and entered the home. Inside the kitchen, they found a man holding the woman against her will with a knife.

When the man saw the officers and heard their commands, he dropped the knife and released the woman unharmed.  The police Facebook post about the incident says the cops were responsible for saving the woman's life.

Officers Ayala and Carter quickly took the suspect into custody without further incident actions that very likely saved a life.

 

Atlantic City Cops Receive 803 Award

Officers Andres Ayala-Cabrera and Azale Carter-Reynolds were given the Operations  803 Award from the department and were recommended for commendations. Their composure, teamwork, and decisive response reflect the highest standards of our department.

The Operations 803 Award is named in honor of Officer Josh Lee Vadell, whose badge number was 803. Vadell survived a severe, life-altering shooting in the line of duty in 2016, and his resilience and heroism continue to inspire the ACPD community.

Vadell was shot in the head while on duty in 2106 during an investigation of a robbery at Caesars Atlantic City’s parking garage. He was a nine-year veteran of the Atlantic City Police Department at the time of the shooting.
