Atlantic City, NJ Police Department Adds New K-9 Officers

The Atlantic City Police Department has new, powerful additions to their department, thanks in part, to a generous donation by Philadelphia Eagles great, Fletcher Cox.

Fletcher Cox has donated two new K-9s that are now officially a part of the Atlantic City Police Department.

The Atlantic City Police Department announced today the addition of three K-9 teams to the department.

Police K-9s and their handlers are trained in different types of police work.  They work in narcotic and explosive detection, search and rescue, as well as criminal apprehension, and more.

The three teams began their training last September and have just graduated.

K9 Officer Robert Reynolds and his partner, K9 Carlo, completed the Patrol Operations & Narcotic Detection Dog Handler Course.

K9 Officer Brandon Bower and K9 Zeus and K9 Detective Alberto Valles and K9 Raider completed the Explosive Detection Dog Handler Course.

Officer Reynolds and his K-9 Carlo were also the recipients of the John “Sonny” Burke Award that was voted on by the members of the K9 academy class.

Reynolds and Carlo, Bower and Zeus have been assigned to the operations division, while Valles and Rader will be a part of the investigations division as well as bomb squad.

Last year, Fletcher donated another K-9 to Atlantic City police.  That K-9 team, Narco and his handler, Officer Nunez-Santos have already made an impact on the streets.

Officer Nunez-Santos and Narco are responsible for apprehending large quantities of drugs, paraphernalia, and cash.
