Every year thousands of people suffer with serious complications of the flu, but one quick flu shot can protect you.

This dangerous disease infects our respiratory system and other parts of our body and can lead to serious complications and death. As the weather gets colder, we are likely to be indoors and in close contact with other people,  increasing exposure to germs through sneezing or coughing.

Fortunately, we can avoid influenza by washing our hands often, avoiding people who are sick and getting an annual flu shot.

Contrary to popular belief, flu shots do not make you sick. Everyone needs a flu shot, especially if you have a weak immune system or you are older than 65.

Get your flu shot with your doctor or visit a clinic in our area form the Atlantic County Division of Public Health.

Public Health Educator Amanda Wachter explains the benefits of getting a flu shot, as I get mine at one of their Atlantic county clinics.
