MVC spokesperson William Connolly tells Patch.com that having a large majority of MVC employees now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 has had great effect in the bounce back.

"Our progress with vaccinations and the reduced threat of the coronavirus in New Jersey have dramatically reduced the need to quarantine COVID-exposed employees and close agencies when we don't have enough staff to safely operate," Connolly said. "While 9 of our 39 agencies have passed the fully-vaccinated date, the transition to the Moderna vaccine means that a second shot is still pending for the rest. All agencies have completed the first round of Moderna shots."

For most of 2020, MVC locations in NJ were forced to temporarily close as employees tested positive for the COVID-19, leading to 75 percent of transactions taking place through the agency's website, according to Patch.com.

As of today (Tuesday, June 1st), all New Jersey MVC locations are open for business, including Cape May, Egg Harbor Township, Vineland, Turnersville, Medford, Cherry Hill, and Runnemede here in South Jersey.

FYI, in terms of getting a driver's license, that service still needs to be conducted in person, says MVC Chief Administrator Sue Fulton, with one important update. "Those applying for a standard driver license still need to use '6 Points of ID' to prove their identity and offer proof of NJ residency. But beginning June 1, applicants who do not have a Social Security number or ITIN can provide an affidavit to meet that requirement."
