- 1
Stay in the Shade
Stay cool in the shade or avoid the sun altogether during the hours of 10 AM to 4 PM when the sun's rays are the strongest.
- 2
Wear a Hat
Wide-brimmed hats offer protection from UV rays for your ears and neck. They are a better option than baseball caps, which fail to cover your ears.
- 3
Use Sunscreen
Use sunscreen with an SPF of no less than 30. This offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Don't forget to re-apply every two hours and more often if you are sweating or in water.
- 4
Wear Sunglasses
Wrap around sunglasses prevent UV rays from entering the eyes and protect the skin around them as well. Make sure they have 100% UV protection.
- 5
Avoid Tanning Booths and Beds
Exposure to indoor tanning beds or booths can increase the likelihood of developing skin cancer. They can also cause the skin to age prematurely and develop wrinkles.
