Wine Country East: NJ Wine Week Nov. 13th- 19th

One of the fastest-growing sectors of New Jersey agriculture is wine production.  Each year, during the third week of November, New Jersey celebrates its local wine industry.  November 13th through the 19th is New Jersey Wine Week.

We have over 60 wineries here in New Jersey.  Here's a selection of local wineries you can visit for a taste of New Jersey vino.

Laurita Winery is in New Egypt.  They are open year-round Thursday through Sunday.  They offer a great selection for you to sample, and they present a wide array of events to keep things fun.  Hours depend on events.  1-800-LAURITA or 609-752-0200.

Cape May Winery & Vineyard is spread out over 150 acres in Cape May, making it the 5th largest winery in the state.  They're open year-round and offer great educational wine-tasting, a tapas kitchen, and many events throughout the year.  This is a great place for groups of 6 or less.  609-884-1169

Renault Winery and Resort was founded over 158 years ago by Louis Renault.  They offer a highly regarded historic tour and taste every Wednesday.  The tour includes seven pairings sure to please.  Their Taste 1864 is highly regarded.  It combines a historic ambiance to go along with your wine-tasting experience.  Call for hours.  609-965-2111

Working Dog Winery is located in Hightstown.  They're open Thursday through Sunday and offer a selection of awarded-winning wines.  Working Dog Winery offers guided tastings, bottles to go, and glasses of wine for you to enjoy on-site.  While they don't sell food on the premises, they do allow you to bring your own to pair with the wine.  Call 609-371-6000.

Plagido's Winery in Hammonton has a nice selection of award-winning wines that are sure to please.  They get their grapes from small lots on a single vineyard.  The taste is outstanding.  They're open 7 days and offer tastings 11a-4p daily.  Reservations are highly recommended.  609-567-4633
