Summer 2022 is almost over; can you even believe it?

For whatever reason, this summer seems to have flown by compared to the last two. Maybe, it's because this has been the first "normal" summer we've experienced since the pandemic back in 2020? Whatever the reason, time seems to be passing much more quickly this year than in recent years past.

So, how have the summer months shaped up for the beach towns along the Jersey coastline? It's a legitimate question since so many of the towns and surrounding municipalities depend on those months for the majority of their income. Tourism is a huge deal at both the Jersey Shore and South Jersey beaches. It's imperative that people keep desiring to enjoy shore getaways for the security of this region's economy.

Apparently, this summer's numbers haven't been as great as those from summer 2021. According to NJ.com, many people believe that 2021's summer numbers were so great because people were, quite frankly, tired of being cooped up in the house. That's all people did during the summer of 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, common sense would lead you to believe that last year's success was a direct result of people's desire to return to normal life.

If that's the case, then wouldn't you think this summer's numbers would be even better than summer 2021's? Well, when you think about inflation, the current state of the economy, and the price of gas - not so much. People are coming to the beaches, yes, but they're apparently taking advantage of all the free activities the shore towns and surrounding areas have to offer. The bottom line is, they're just not spending their money at the beaches like they have in the past.

Hopefully, the market will even itself out and people won't have to be as tight with their pocketbooks next summer at the shore.
