Somers Point Police Chief Robert Somers released a statement today announcing that they have captured the individuals suspected of the recent mugging of an 83-year-old woman in front of Acme off New Road.

Most importantly, they say the unidentified woman has been released from the hospital after being treated for injuries sustained in the attack.

Police arrested four individuals in the attack, including a juvenile.

According to Somers Point Police, those arrested and charged are,

🔴  Male, age 15, from Egg Harbor Township, was unidentified because of his age.  He was charged with, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Theft.

🔴  Maria DeSantis, a 60-year-old woman from Woodbine.  DeSantis was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Using/Empowering a Juvenile to Commit a Crime.

 

🔴 Charles Ogelsby, Jr, a 23-year-old man from Atlantic City. He was charged with, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, Use / Employing a Juvenile to Commit a Crime, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Defaced Firearm

 

🔴  Emily Labaco, a 22-year-old woman also from Atlantic City.  Labaco was charged with, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, Use / Employing a Juvenile to Commit a Crime, and Receiving Stolen Property.

Somers Point Police say that on October 3rd, just before noon, an unidentified 83-year-old woman was accosted in front of the Acme as she was leaving the store.

The suspect took off with her pocketbook and fled towards Bethel Road.

The Somers Point Police displayed an impressive commitment to bringing the suspect(s) to justice.

SPPD coordinated efforts with the Atlantic City Police, and Egg Harbor Township Police to identify the suspects and execute search warrants on multiple vehicles and residences to collect evidence in the case.

The adult suspects are currently being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The juvenile is housed at Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
