
Somers Point Police Seek Thug Who Robbed an 83-Year-Old Woman

This is one of those stories to hate to hear about.
An 83-year-old woman, minding her own business while shopping at Acme in Somers Point, had a day she won't ever forget.
Police say that the 83-year-old woman was shopping at the Acme located at 212 New Road in Somers Point Thursday Morning.
Somers Point Police say that as the woman was leaving, she was approached from behind near the front entrance of the store, by an unknown assailant who assaulted the woman, grabbed her purse, and took off.
Police say the incident occurred at around 11:50.
The thug, described as a younger, possibly caucasian male, was wearing a mask and dark clothes as he fled in the direction of Bethel Road.

The victim was taken to Shore Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries.
There has been no about how serious the victim's injuries were or if she has been released.
Somers Point Police Chief Robert C. Somers put out a statement asking for the public's help in finding the thug who would do something like this.
