Tragedy does not define a person, but what they do after does. A Millville football team is overcoming tragedy and trying to take the best youth football teams in the country. In August of 2018, the Millville Junior Thunderbolt's coach, Joseph Jones, was shot and killed after a team practice.

The team is comprised of 10 and 11-year-olds who have a dream of competing in California. The Snoop Youth Football League Nationals takes place in December, and is hosted by Snoop Dogg.

The team has done extremely well. The team's assistant coach, Terence Ridgeway, told CBS 3, "We went to Ohio a couple years ago and won the national championship in Ohio."

The young football players are looking to win again this year in California next month. Running back and linebacker Shermar Collins spoke to the news outlet saying, "Our teammates coming together playing as a family, working hard, not yelling at each other."

In order to make it to California, the team must raise money and needed about $6,000 more to make it there. They have started a GoFundMe to raise the remaining money. As of 12 PM November 10th, there have been 33 donors and $2,315 raised.

On their GoFundMe page they state, "With hard work and dedicated these young men have been awarded the opportunity to participate in a National Tournament that not many Teams get to partake in."
