Galloway to Host First Pickleball Tourney
Galloway is on a roll with all kinds of great community activities.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the township. Events are happening throughout the summer and right through the end of the year.
There are a series of music events, food truck events, crafts, and more.
On August 3rd and 4th, Galloway will play host to the first annual PAL Pickleball Tournament.
The courts, which many baller's in our area say are awesome, are located at 320 East Jimmy Leeds Road.
The tournament will feature gender doubles and mixed doubles. Registration is $50 for the tournament and $15 for each event. The skills level for this tournament are 3.0-4.5+
All the proceeds will benefit the Galloway PAL.
The Galloway PAL provides a host of organized sports for area youth, including volleyball, basketball, and more.
The organization relies on volunteers and the generosity of the community to provide area kids with these opportunities.
Over the past few years, pickleball has gained in popularity. In our region, many tennis courts have been converted to pickleball courts.
However, pickleball has been around for over 60 years. It was invented by a small group of friends in the state of Washington.
Those who play it, say it's less stressful on the body than tennis.
Even though the courts are similar to tennis, the games are played differently. Those who are interested in learning can usually find open court sessions at various facilities around our region.
