Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Mikasa” the cat.

Here is some information on Mikasa from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Mikasa is a 3-4 year old gray/ black tiger domestic short-haired cat. Her previous owner found her as a stray on a golf course. It was apparent that she recently had been spayed since her fur was just growing in from surgery.

The young man decided to keep her and brought her home to his parent’s house where he resided at that time. Thinking she found her new, forever home, she happily lived there for the next two years. That is until the young guy decided to move out and couldn’t take her with him. Unfortunately, his parents couldn’t keep her because of allergies.

Despite being shy at first, Mikasa enjoys attention and is a sweet girl. She would sleep in bed with her previous owner and was a very loyal companion. A stable calm home would suite her personality best. She has never been in a home with other pets and may be best as queen of the castle but could be possibly ok with existing pets.”
