Margate Ice Cream Shop Closes; Here’s What’s Taking Its Place
The Margate location of Famous Cookie Creamery, which just finished its second summer at 9315 Amherst Avenue, announced this week that they won't be returning for a third season.
If you want that yummy combination of famous 4th Street Cookies and Bassetts Ice Cream you will have to go to their locations in Ocean City or Wildwood next summer.
Here's What's Coming to Amherst Avenue Next Summer
As Famous Cookie Creamery was saying goodbye to Margate, Betty's Seafood Shack next door was announcing its plan to expand into that space with its latest venture, Betty's BBQ & Fried Chicken.
We've Got Some News! How far out do you plan your meals??!Is May too far!!??We're excited to announce our next venture, Betty's BBQ & Fried Chicken! We will be servin' low'n slow smoked bbq and killer fried chicken outta the building next to Betty's (formerly Juniors and, more recently, Famous Cookie). We have a great menu in the works and will be open for breakfast, with a terrific full Coffee program, as well.
Betty's Owner Knows His Show Smoked BBQ
Bettyy's Seafood Shack owner Steve Marchel has some experience with smoked meats from his other eatery on Absecon Island.
Waterdog Smoke House on Ventnor Avenue became an instant favorite in 2019 for its delicious house-smoked and roasted fish and meats and has continued to build a loyal following.
So, the menu at Betty's BBQ & Fried Chicken sounds like a natural.
Patrons can sit inside Betty's or at any of the outdoor space we now have. So if someone wants Betty's Fried Shrimp and their pal is craving slow smoked St Louis Ribs and Tasty Fried Chicken, we've got ya covered! More deets to follow!
Dining options on Margate's Amherst Avenue in the summer of 2025 just got a little more interesting.
