You know you have lived an interesting life when people line up to tell stories about you when you die.

Robert Blutinger, a 50-year employee of Boyar's Market in Ocean City, died Thursday of complications from non-Covid pneumonia. Shortly after hearing the news, tributes to Bob began to pour in.

Boyar's Market put an emotional post about Blutinger on their Facebook page Thursday, remembering his love for his family, animals, having fun, and making people laugh.

A former classmate at Albright College posted his memories of meeting Bob during their freshman year and then seeing him on television some years later clowning with Meadowlark Lemon while serving as a referee for the Harlem Globetrotters.

A fellow Globetrotter referee heard about Bob's passing and posted his recollections of spending fun times with him in the Globetrotters organization years earlier and how he looked forward to seeing him when he visited South Jersey. He reminisced about Bob's love of good food and crazy jokes.

Another friend, Ted Leads, posted a photo of Bob handing out books to students in a classroom with the caption, "Thanks for making this world a better place! 🌎

In 2021, Michael Licata posted to tell friends that Blute had needed a kidney transplant and "right now his new kidney is “asleep” because of a medication the doctors had to give him to get his blood pressure down. The doctors are waiting for Blute’s kidney to wake up. Please pray that Blute’s kidney wakes up soon 🙏🙏🙏"

A co-worker at Boyar's Market remembered Bob this way:

More than half my life was spent working beside this man. I’m so sad and can’t imagine a world without a Robert. He was driven, loyal, passionate and the hardest working man you would ever meet. I will miss our weekly phone calls just to catch up. My heart hurts tonight knowing you now are not just a phone call away. 💔
The most touching remembrance came from Boyar's Market...
Robert Blutinger passed away early this morning, April 7th 2022. He suffered an almost 2 month-long battle with non-Covid pneumonia. He leaves behind his wife Sharon, daughter Lori, son-in-law Matt and his three beautiful grandchildren Jackson, Lucas and Scarlet.
Robert life’s purpose was serving the customers at Boyar’s Market in OC. Which he did for over 50 years. His impact was felt in countless ways by all who worked with him and knew him. He had such a kind heart for people in need and especially animals.
He decided to retire and move to Boynton Beach Florida with his wife Sharon, 2 years ago. He enjoyed going to the pool, going out to lunch and watching sports on Tv.
We would love to flood the Boyar’s FB page with memories and pictures of Robert.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Our condolences to his friends and family.
