Linwood Mourns the Death of K-9 Kaos, Loyal Police Partner
The Linwood Police Department shared the sad news that police K-9 dog Kaos passed away this week following a battle with kidney disease. He was 8 years old.
Linwood Police posted a sweet tribute to K-9 Kaos on its Facebook page.
Kaos was more than just a police dog; he was a loyal partner, a protector, and a friend. Always ready to serve, Kaos worked tirelessly alongside his handler and partner, Sgt. Charles Champion, keeping our city safe and building countless bonds with residents, young and old.
From tracking suspects and protecting our officers to visiting schools and participating in community events, Kaos exemplified the courage, discipline, and heart that define the very best of service. His presence brought comfort, his skills brought security, and his spirit brought pride to our department.
German Shepherds Are Predisposed to Kidney Disease
Chronic kidney disease, which is a kidney disease that occurs over time, is a common health issue in German Shepherds, especially as they age. Kaos developed the issue early in his life.
I remember seeing a Facebook post from Linwood Police several years ago, remembering Kaos going into kidney failure when he was only two years old.
Exactly one year ago today, K9 Kaos went into kidney failure. His quality of life was in question, however with the help of Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital, he was able to recover and get back to doing what he loves, coming to work everyday.
Linwood Police Thank the DePaço Family
The cost of obtaining and training a K-9 dog is substantial.
A North Jersey couple, César and Deanna DePaço, donated $10,000 for Kaos in the name of their company, Summit Nutritionals, to cover the expense for Linwood Police, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
