Election day is this Tuesday and I think it is safe to say most of us are glad it is finally here.  It  has been a long, unusual presidential race and I for one will be happy to see it end.   Whatever your thoughts are on our candidates, our brave men and women in uniform  have made the ultimate sacrifice to guarantee our right to have a say in the leadership and direction of our nation. We honor them by going to the polls this Tuesday.

As someone once said, if you don’t vote, you can’t complain.  It is not just a right, it is a privilege. I am taking my teenage kids  with me and we will certainly be discussing the importance of being involved in our democratic process.  I feel so good when I pull that curtain closed to make my decision and I always leave feeling like a very proud American.  That feeling is just one of the ways  voting can actually benefit your health. Yes, the phrase “exercising your right to vote” has literal meaning that can actually benefit our mental health. Check out four reasons casting your ballot this Tuesday is good for your health!

    Good For Your Mental Health

    Political Activism Boosts Your Wellbeing

And last, but not least.  YES! Magazine reports, taking voting a little step further and being politically active is linked with greater well being and life satisfaction. So go out there and vote for your country’s future while benefiting your health at the same time.
