How Margate Plans to Handle School This Fall
After surveying parents and teachers, on Wednesday, the Margate Board of Education released their plan for returning to school for the 2020-2021 school year.

My daughters are students in Margate, so I have a vested interest in this plan.
The options presented in a back-to-school survey sent to parents, had ranged from a return to full-day, in-school learning to continuing with the all-remote learning system we moved to when the pandemic broke out in March.
Margate decided to go back to school, albeit on a abbreviated school day schedule, skipping lunch and recess.
Here are the highlights of Margate's plan...
- Students will go to school daily from 8:15a.m. until 12:15p.m., and all classes will be taught in-person.
- Masks must be worn at all times by staff and students unless socially distanced.
- Most extracurricular activities will be offered, either in-person or remotely.
- Students will not have lunch or recess, but will be provided time for a snack. Meals will continue to be provided to students who want them, as a to-go option.
- After-care will still be available to working parents.
How school sports will be handled still needs to be addressed.
The school district has an information meeting scheduled in early August for parents. It should be a very interesting school year.
