Summer camps will begin to open all over South Jersey starting July 6th. This is welcome news and music to the ears of some parents who have been with the kids since mid-March when all schools shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course there are certain restrictions and guidelines campers and counselors must adhere to this summer amid the lingering concerns of the coronavirus pandemic according to NJ.com.

Some of the guidelines include all campers being screened for illness, the usage of masks and face coverings and sanitation will be increased to decrease the chances of the virus spreading.

The same children should work with the same staff on a consistent day-to- day basis. Contact sports will be prohibited and meal time will be staggered to cut down on the number of campers eating together all at once.

Staffers and counselors must wear a cloth mask unless for swimming activities or if he or she has a health condition.

Summer camps can be so beneficial for kids to enjoy nature, build friendships and self confidence. It's so good to see our state open up again little by little and get back to some kind of normalcy as we get ready to kick off the 2020 summer season.
