Firefighters Perform High-Flying Rescue at Funny Farm
The Mays Landing and Richland Fire departments got an unusual call for help on Wednesday from the Funny Farm Animal Rescue in the Mizpah section of Hamilton township.
As they always do, the firefighters responded and saved the day with a high-flying rescue!
Funny Farm Bucket Truck Gets Stuck
Nobody likes a stuck bucket truck. Especially the guy stuck at the top of the bucket truck.
According to a Funny Farm Facebook post, Matt from Funny Farm Animal Rescue found himself stuck up there after the bucket truck had a mechanical problem that caused it to get stuck in the air.
While cutting down branches in our newly donated bucket truck, a hydraulic hose burst and the emergency backup system didn’t work so Matt was stranded up in the air.
Can you picture poor Matt stuck up at the top of this extended bucket truck with no way down? My vertigo is kicking in just thinking about it.
Fire Departments to the Rescue
The call came into the dispatcher for the fire departments on Wednesday afternoon that a man named Matt was stuck at the top of a bucket truck and Funny Farm needed some help to get him unstuck.
(I'm not sure what it is about telling this story that's causing me to talk like Dr. Seuss.)
Anyway...duty called and so off the bucket truck first responders went, as they recalled later in a Facebook post on the Mays Landing Fire Department page.
This afternoon, the Department was requested to the Funny Farm Rescue to assist an individual suspended in the air when his bucket truck malfunctioned. Ladder 18-15, with a crew of 5, and Chief 18-11 responded and, utilizing the aerial device, got the subject down!
No injuries were sustained, and responding members made some new friends with the curious animals along the way!
Thank you to the Mays Landing Fire Dept and Richland Fire Dept for performing a successful rescue at the Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary.
