The obituary for the South Jersey police officer who died in a recent home invasion has been released.

It tells a sad story about the life tragically shortened, of a woman who had so much to offer, and so much passion for the things she liked and for the people she loved.

Detective Sgt. Monica Mosley with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office was shot and killed in her home last week.

The Life of Monica Mosley

Monica Mosley, 51, is remembered in her obituary as a dedicated mother of three, a grandmother and a daughter.

In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, eating good food and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved Pitbull Chyna.

 

Most of all Monica enjoyed having fun and was the life of the party, often bringing smiles to all who knew her. She enjoyed going to wineries and hanging with her “Old Lady Gang”. Monica was an avid EAGLES fan and was fierce in defending her team.

 

Monica also was a die-hard Prince fan and loved listening to his music. She was extremely dedicated to her job and serving her community.

According to her obituary, Monica worked hard in her positions with the Prosecutor's office, finally earning a promotion to Detective Sergeant in the Internal Affairs Unit, making her the first African American woman in Cumberland County to earn such a position.

The Murder of Monica Mosley

Officials say that Mosely was killed just before 10:30 pm on Oct. 15.
Several people were reportedly kicking down the front door of her home on Buckshutem Road in Bridgeton. Police say Mosley was found dead inside.
Police are said to be questioning some persons of interest, but no arrests have been announced.
 Services will be held Sat., Oct 26th from 10 am to noon at Bridgeton High School, 111 N. West Ave., Bridgeton, where friends may call after 8 am.

The burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell.
