The Death of Det. Sgt. Monica Mosley

Officials say that Mosely was killed shortly before 10 pm on Oct. 15.
Court documents say that the accused men reportedly kicked down the front door of her home on Buckshutem Road in Bridgeton.
After the four kicked in the door, they shot Mosley several times, including once to the back of her head, in a manner of an execution, according to Cape May County First Assistant Prosecutor Saverio Carroccia during detention hearings for the suspects in December.
Mosley defended herself by shooting Mutcherson in the chest before dying from her injuries, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
When police arrived at her home, they found Mosely dead inside.
At Det. Mosley's funeral, a line for the viewing lasted for nearly three hours as loved ones and friends came to pay their respects.

The Suspects Attempted to Cover Up The Crime

In the days following the murder, the men charged tried to destroy or hide evidence of the home break-in and murder, according to authorities.
Cyndia E. Pimente drove her car, which was used in committing the crime, to a garage in Philadelphia to hide it from police.

Detectives used cellphone data, witness statements,  license plate readers, surveillance video, DNA and ballistics analysis during the investigation.

The case was transferred to Atlantic County after the attorneys for the defendants claimed their clients wouldn’t get a fair trial in Cumberland County.
