CNN and Sesame Street Hosting COVID-19 Town Hall for Families
If you're trying to find a way to talk to your kids about the pandemic and explain how and why they should protect themselves and others, CNN and Sesame Street are here to help.
This Saturday, December 19 at 10 a.m., CNN will air 'The ABCs of COVID-19', a 60-minute town hall, hosted by CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Anchor Erica Hill along with Sesame Street’s Big Bird and friends.
Some of your kids' favorite Sesame Street characters, like Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and Rosita, will also appear alongside experts to answer questions about how to best come down to your little ones' level to address what they may be hearing about or seeing on TV about coronavirus.
Other topics set to be covered in the town hall, are staying healthy through the winter months, celebrating the holidays while distanced from family and friends, and coping with uncertain (and even anxious) feelings as kids continue to face unprecedented challenges to their home and school life.
I can't imagine how kids are trying to process everything that's going on right now. It's a lot of science to wrap one's head around, even as an adult. Even during the worst snow storm I ever experienced as a kid, I was never out of school or away from my friends as long as these children have been. I'm really glad the cast of Sesame Street and the professionals at CNN will put the topic of COVID-19 in words kids can relate to.
