Chicken Sold in NJ Part of Urgent Recall
The USDA has announced a massive recall of chicken sold at retailers like Walmart, Aldi, Trader Joe's, and more.
The meat being recalled was produced by BrucePac, and there is concern that the affected may contain Listeria monocytogenes.
BrucePac produced the ready-to-eat items between May 31, 2024, and October 8, 2024.
In addition to supermarkets, the recalled items have also been shipped to schools, restaurants, and other institutions.
Currently, the USDA has not released a list of names of the schools that received the affected products.
To check to see if you have chicken that was recalled, look for the code, 51205 or P-51205 inside or under the USDA label on the product.
The Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), discovered the issues during routine testing of finished products produced by BrucePac.
At that time, it was confirmed the products tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
The FSIS identified BrucePac Ready-to-eat poultry products as the source of the Listeria monocytogenes.
So far, there have been no reports of anyone taking ill from the products.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be available for use in restaurants, institutions, schools and other establishments.
