A slot player at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City had the day of her life this week when she won big on a wide-area progressive Wheel of Fortune slot machine.

Hard Rock Slot Player Wins Progressive Slot Jackpot

The lucky Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City slot player bet $5 and won a slot jackpot of $924,195.

A Lehighton, PA. woman hit the jackpot late Wednesday at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. Lehighton is a little town north of Allentown, about two hours from AC.

Can you imagine?!

The lucky player placed the bet on a wide-area progressive Wheel of Fortune slot machine with a $1 denomination.
According to slot manufacturer IGT Jackpots, its Wheel of Fortune slot machines are the nation’s most popular slots.
The jackpot amount is based on a 20-year annual annuity payout.  The lucky winner declined publicity.

The Difference Between Progressive Slot Machines

According to fliptheswitch.com, you'll see three types of progressives on casino machines.

The first type is limited to a single machine, known as a stand-alone progressive.

Then some progressives are connected to one or a few banks of machines in the casino, known as a linked progressive.

The final progressive type spans multiple casinos and is known as a wide-area progressive.

Wide-area progressives are handled by the slot makers, not the casinos. The casinos bank the other two progressive types, and they are required to pay them out when won.

Who Pays the Jackpot Winner?

For wide-area progressives, you get paid by the slot manufacturer.

IGT maintains a website, IGT Jackpots, where you can see what progressives are offered and their current value.

It’s definitely a swing for the fences moment, but for those who manage to land one of these epic prizes, it’s a life-changing scenario.

Just ask the gambler who won $924,195 this week at Hard Rock Atlantic City.
