An Atlantic City woman suspected of starting a fire in a dumpster next to an Atlantic City Boardwalk pizza shop has been arrested for arson.

Atlantic City Police say Dawn Davidson-Gonzalez, 42, of Atlantic City, started a fire in the back of Jersey Shore Pizza and Grille in the 2600 block of the Boardwalk early Monday morning, May 29.

Atlantic City Police and fire units responded to a dumpster fire at the business at 4:03 am. Firefighters were able to quickly control and extinguish the fully engulfed dumpster that was directly next to the building. The building sustained minimal damage.

During their investigation, the arson unit was able to determine that the fire had been intentionally set in the dumpster.

Davidson-Gonzalez was arrested after being recognized when she returned to the area of the fire on Sunday, June 4.

She is being held in the Atlantic County Facility on an arson charge.
