If you hail from the southern most part of New Jersey, then you know I'm not exaggerating when I say we RARELY feel the love down here in comparison to the rest of the state.

What do I mean by that? Well, to be honest, we're usually forgotten about by the NJ powers-that-be. It's safe to say that the southeastern most parts of the state are basically paired together to form the red-headed stepchild portion of New Jersey. Central Jersey might have something to say about that, but it still feels like sometimes we're wrongly grouped into things with the rest of the state.

It seems, however, that we may finally be receiving the attention we deserve. Well, at least one part of South Jersey -- the Wildwood boardwalk. After reviewing the state's budget, Governor Murphy has apparently found some funds to put towards repairs on the Wildwood boards. NJ.com reports that $4 million dollars of this year's state budget will go towards repairing weather-related wear-and-tear on the boardwalk.

While it was previously determined that the boards need more than 15 times that amount to adequately complete repairs, the state has decided on a different approach that's more cost effective than replacing the boardwalk in its entirety. The damage from the last year alone is pretty extensive; the storms last year are responsible for, according to NJ.com, $400k+ worth of damage.

Is the $4 million Murphy's allotted us enough for every repair needed? No. However, at the very least, it's a solid start.

The rest of the boardwalk will need to have work done as well, eventually, so other money sources are being explored in an effort to hopefully get those repairs in motion sooner rather than later.
