Vineland 8th Grader Forgoes Birthday Party to Hold Soup Kitchen Fundraiser
An 8th grader from Vineland is seeing the bigger picture and forgoing his own birthday party in order to help others.
Dominic Mercado is an 8th grader at Sergeant Dominick Pilla Middle School in Vineland. A couple of years ago he decided to skip his own birthday party due to COVID, and hold an event to help others instead. A "pasta party" was born to benefit the Spirit and Truth Ministries in Vineland, also known as the Vineland Soup Kitchen.
According to Dominic, the pasta party involved collecting pasta and sauce from a table set up in his front yard!
This year, Dominic is doing it again! About to turn 14, he'll be set up in his front yard - 942 E. Grant Avenue in Vineland - on Saturday, April 9 from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. He and Sebastian, 16, will again be collecting pasta and sauce donations - and, new this year - the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos!
If you can't make it to Dominic's you can help the cause by donating via a GoFundMe page that has been set up. You can find it here.
