An early morning crash on I-95 in South Philadelphia has killed two Pennsylvania State Troopers and one other person. The investigation into the crash, which happened around 1 am Monday has caused the closure of I-95 in the area for several hours.

6ABC reports that the crash happened on the northbound side of I-95 near the Stadium Complex, just north of Broad Street.

It appears that the state troopers were making a traffic stop at the time when a car struck and killed them and one other person who was on the scene.

Philadelphia police were first to arrive at the scene. The Philadelphia Fire Department and state police were also called to the crash site. All traffic on I-95 is being diverted off the ramps as all lanes remain shut down.

The troopers' identities have not been released and no other information was immediately available from the crash scene.
