On Tuesday, Wawa told The Patch that the last day the two employees had worked at the store was on Sunday, April 12.
In a statement, Wawa said they took immediate action and closed the store to have it deep cleaned and disinfected.
No one answered at the Ocean City Wawa Tuesday night. Other Wawa locations where an employee has tested positive were typically closed for about 24 hours for the deep cleaning.
"In accordance with its protocols, Wawa took immediate action and closed the store to have it professionally deep cleaned and disinfected by a third-party. The store will reopen as soon as possible with associates from neighboring stores, if needed."
According to WFMZ.com, at another Delaware Valley-area Wawa store that had an employee test positive for COVID-19, the company said the employee who was diagnosed with the coronavirus had their full support - including two weeks paid time off.
The Patch reports that the Ocean City Wawa is working with the Department of Health to notify any employee who may have had close contact with them.
Wawa already put some changes into effect in mid-March. It ended self-service coffee and machines and also closed down all stores overnight between 2 and 3 a.m. for additional cleaning, sanitation and re-stocking.
