Stressed? Worried? This 15-Minute Practice Can Help
More Health Updates
Do you ever feel consumed with thoughts, emotions, worry, or fear? Maybe you should consider practicing mindfulness! Mindfulness is defined as “the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.” Since the pandemic began, there have been apps, websites, and news stories focusing on how to be more mindful. When we hear the words "mindfulness" or "meditation", it might conjure images of a yogi sitting on crossed-leg top of a mountain, but the truth is any of us can do it anywhere.
Allowing 15 minutes a day to be dedicated to mindful meditation can improve overall health. Mindful meditation consists of focusing on deep breaths, allowing the body to relax, and clearing the mind of all distractions.
Meditative activities are one technique to achieve mindfulness. Try these meditative activities at home. Find a comfortable position where you can close your eyes, focus on breathing, and refrain from distractions in silence. For slightly more activity, try walking meditation where you become fully present with every step and don’t focus on a specific destination. You can also try yoga meditation where you combine yoga and meditation practices.
