Gloucester Township ShopRite Store Receives Bomb Threat

It was a tense afternoon on Thursday for employees and shoppers at a ShopRite in Gloucester Township when the store received a bomb threat.

Someone mad about a booked-up COVID vaccine appointment schedule? A disgruntled employee? Who knows what lead a person to phone ShopRite on Chews Landing Road in Laurel Springs threatening that the store was 'going to blow up'.

The call came Thursday at 5:20 p.m., according to Courier Post. Gloucester Township Police responded (I assume rather quickly, given that ShopRite store sits directly across from GT municipal complex) and began evacuating ShopRite and other nearby business as a safety precaution. Fire and Emergency Medical Services were also called to assist.

Camden County Sheriff's Office reportedly sent K9 dogs into the store to investigate, but no explosive devices were found, according to Patch.com.

Bomb-sniffing dogs did not turn up any explosive devices after a Shoprite store employee was told the building was going to blow up.

The bomb scare remains under investigation as police search to find the person/persons responsible for the threat.

This is the ShopRite store where my mother typically does her grocery shopping, so this incident really shook me. I advised her to shop a different ShopRite until police get to the bottom of what happened.
