High schools everywhere are looking for some semblance of normalcy for proms and graduation ceremonies.

Most high school proms last year were obviously canceled due to the pandemic, and most graduations had a lot restrictions that made the event less than enjoyable for the hardworking students and their families. If you remember, some graduations were even held virtually.

Without a doubt, students are looking forward to things getting back to normal ahead of their big milestones in 2021.

According to a 6 ABC report, prom for one South Jersey high school will have a much different feel to it due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. There will be no dancing at this year's prom at Clearview Regional High School in Harrison Township located in Gloucester County.

This is due to the guidelines issued by the state when it comes to public gatherings. The news has been met with mixed, and certainly disappointing, reactions from some seniors especially after losing prom experiences last year.

All this talk of prom season has made me think back to our own Lite Rock Second Chance Prom, which was last held at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City two years ago. Polyester suits and platform shoes ruled our prom that year as we turned back the clocks to the Disco era. The Second Chance Prom event helps benefit the South Jersey Field of Dreams- a specially designed baseball field for physically and cognitively challenged kids.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe we can look forward to a Second Chance Prom for 2022.
