Less than two weeks ago, the news wasn't very bright (literally) about Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing -- word spread very quickly that the shopping center would have it's lights turned-off right after Easter due to an unpaid electric bill.

Now, a new restaurant chain is about to move into the mall and it'll be bringing with it all kinds of seafood.

As the owners of Hamilton Mall settled their issues with Atlantic City Electric, they made this comment to The Press of Atlantic City:

Igal Nassim of Mason Asset Management, which oversees leasing at the mall, confirmed three new additions to the food court and two new retail tenants, and said the company plans to sign a lease with a national restaurant chain to replace Ruby Tuesday.

And now we know what will be replacing Ruby Tuesday: Crab Du Jour Cajun Seafood Boil & Bar.

According to their website, Crab Du Jour, "...offers experience-driven seafood dining in a fun, communal atmosphere, perfect for friends and family. Our Cajun-inspired eatery is known for fresh seafood boils (made for sharing) and an array of signature house-blended sauces, to enhance the experience."

A quick glance at their menu shows they offer a variety of seafood-based soups, crab meat fries, po' boys, and practically every type of seafood you can think of (oh yes, crab legs).

Crab Du Jour has dozens and dozens of locations, all east of the Mississippi River, with concentrations in the Carolinas and in the Northeast, based on a map of their restaurants. The chain has been rapidly expanding in our area recently with many locations popping-up in and around Philadelphia. Crab Du Jour opened a location in Turnersville last summer. Besides Hamilton Mall, the chain is also working on new eateries on Delsea Drive in Vineland and on Route 70 in Cherry Hill.

Crab Du Jour will have its work cut-out for it here at the shore. Red Lobster has been a staple in front of the mall for many years (thanks to Google Maps, about 620 feet will separate Red Lobster from Crab Du Jour) and locals have had their favorite seafood spots for, in some cases, decades.

There's no official word yet on when Crab Du Jour at Hamilton Mall will be opening.
