Somers Point Is Next South Jersey Town To Ban Plastic Bags
The plastic bag ban continues to make its way across the Garden State and a South Jersey town has just jumped on the go-green bandwagon.
Welcome to the Friendly Environment Club Somers Point!
Now...this Atlantic County town passed an ordinance in 2018 that required businesses to charge a five cent fee for each single-use plastic bag that is provided to customers.
But that ruling has since changed.
On September 12th, 2019, the City Council voted to instead ban plastic bags all together and this new rule officially took effect at the start of 2020.
So it may be a bigger adjustment but we all might as well make all the big changes for the New Year and then enjoy the environmental and budgetary advantages until the end of time.
Think about it - If people are using reusable bags, businesses won't have to continuously buy new, single-use plastic bags.
