A single-engine plane crashed in the Pomona section of Galloway Township on Wednesday afternoon and police and several other agencies are investigating this crash, Galloway Township Police said in a Facebook post.

More Details About the Crash

It appears that the single-engine plane with only the pilot aboard took off from Atlantic City International Airport and radioed air traffic control shortly after saying there was a problem.

A social media report on Scan AC from Don Purdy, who lives in the area, said the pilot chose not to try to land on the Garden State Parkway because of the volume of traffic. He dove the plane into the trees and deployed a parachute system in the plane at 400 feet above the tree line and landed safely.
