Popular South Jersey Wings Spot Is Closing This Week
A popular South Jersey spot for good Buffalo wings is closing up shop permanently this Friday. After 15 years, Buffalo Wild Wings is closing its location in the Shoppes at Cross Keys.
Buffalo Wild Wings is the chain with the commercials featuring Hank, the computer-generated, snarky buffalo with wings who loves sports and chicken wings.
The Sicklerville Buffalo Wild Wings made it official in a statement published by 42 Freeway last week.
We have made the difficult decision to close our restaurant at 627 Cross Keys Road. We want to thank our guests and the community for their support and patronage over the years. We appreciate the opportunity to have served you and encourage you to continue visiting us at our near
by location at 1598 Nixon Drive (in Moorestown).
Word is that employees will be offered jobs at other South Jersey locations, which also include Mays Landing, Millville, Barnegat, and Voorhees.
More About Buffalo Wild Wings
Buffalo Wild Wings has 1400 locations nationwide and is popular for its casual menu and for being a fun spot to watch sports. The chicken wings, bone-in and boneless, with a dozen different sauces and rubs, are the main attraction of the restaurant, but they also serve burgers and appetizers.
Founded in 1982 in Columbus, Ohio, Buffalo Wild Wings has grown into the largest sports bar chain in the U.S. by systemwide sales, ranking No. 1 in Nation’s Restaurant News’ annual “Top 500” report, according to Fast Company.
Inspire Brands, the same company behind Dunkin’ and Arby’s, acquired the chain in 2018 for roughly $2.9 billion.
The company has had some recent setbacks, as most chain restaurants have lately, and was forced to close about a dozen other stores this year, including a 20-year-old location in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan, back in May
That location's restaurant manager pointed to the state of the restaurant industry overall as one of the reasons behind the decision in a conversation with MLive.
“We understand that people don’t have as much money to come out and eat, and it’s just the nature of the beast.”
