Ocean City, a town with several fantastic choices for ice cream, homemade fudge, and chocolate is about to add a store with a long reputation for making all three.

For decades, Kilwins, a national candy and ice cream franchise, has been known for making and selling high-quality chocolates, ice cream, and confections with excellent service.

Kilwins, at 736 Wesley Avenue in Ocean City, opens on July 25th.

What is Kilwins?

Because their only two existing New Jersey locations are in Bergen County, we'll assume you don't know anything about Kilwins. Neither do I.

I've never tried Kilwins, even though they have close-by Pennsylvania locations in King of Prussia, West Chester, and center city Philly.

But I did some research on the company and here's what I found out.

In 1947, Katy and Don Kilwin opened their first location in Petoskey, Michigan and the company is still headquartered there. There are 146 locations across 25 states.

The company has become an American success story with a tradition of producing high-quality chocolates, original recipe ice cream, freshly-baked fudge, caramel, toffee crunch, and other confections, and a reputation for hiring folks interested in providing you with a premium experience.

A few of Kilwins' Favorites

Fans of Kilwins say these are a few of their favorite things...

Kilwins comes fully stocked with an arsenal of original, homemade ice cream flavors, from classics like mint chocolate chip or dulce de leche to originals like chocolate caramel cashew or banana fudge pie.

In the mood for a Caramel Apple?  Kilwins' "The Perfect" Apple is a Granny Smith apple hand-dipped in freshly made in-store caramel.

Caramel corn & brittle are made in traditional copper kettles, in Kilwins' in-store kitchens.

Turtle Fudge and Sea-Salt Caramel Fudge are other top sellers op sellers at Kilwins.

Plus, Kilwins sells shakes, malts, sundaes, sorbettos, and quarts of their ice cream to go.

From the sound of it, there's no shortage of good things to try at Kilwins. We'll look forward to trying them out in Ocean City.
