It's sad to have to admit it, but it's rare to get through any Memorial Day Weekend without hearing about some sort of tragedy.

Unfortunately, 2021's Memorial Day Weekend follows suit. First things first, multiple teens have been reported missing from various regions of South Jersey. If that's not devastating enough, a man from Longport died after falling into the bay. Finally, a tragedy on the road reportedly took the life of a man only 26-years-old.

NJ.com reports that wet conditions combined with fast speeds down a Cumberland County road claimed the life of the man, Brad Geist, who didn't even make it to the hospital before he was pronounced dead by the authorities. The driver was a 21-year-old who, in addition to Geist, had one more passenger in the car with him at the time of the crash.

The incident occurred in the Cumberland County town of Maurice River Township on Route 347. Reportedly, the car hit not one, but multiple trees before it finally stopped after striking an embankment in the middle of mile markers 7 and 8. Luckily, the driver has yet to face any charges regarding the crash. Since the weather was anything but fair this weekend, there's a chance the investigation will name that as the cause.

Neither the 21-year-old driver nor the other passenger are dealing with any critical injuries. Although, the loss of a friend is a pretty significant source of mental anguish at this time, no doubt. No other information is currently available regarding any additional suspicions or factors at play at the time of the crash. To find out more, click HERE.
