A Millville man found guilty in the shooting death of his wife was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Wednesday.

Millville Man Gets 60-Year Sentence for Murder

Edwin Ramos-Rosado, 42, of Millville, was found guilty by a jury in January of first-degree murder and weapons charges in the November 2, 2022, shooting death of his wife, Ramy Garcia, 35, in their home.

This week's sentencing was the final stage of a case that moved through the court system for more than two years following Ramos-Rosado’s 2023 indictment on murder and weapons charges.

What Happened in November 2022

Millville Police were called to a home on the 400 block of North 4th Street in Millville at about 4:24 pm on  November 2, 2022, for the report of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found Ramy Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police determined that Garcia had been shot by Ramos-Rosado during a struggle for the gun between the two.

Court documents showed that Garcia was trying to leave the home with the couple’s children when a heated argument escalated, and the struggle began.

After the shooting, Ramos-Rosado fled the residence.

Authorities issued alerts describing him as armed and dangerous, and a search began.

Ramos-Rosado was found the next day in a vehicle in a Wawa parking lot in Bellmawr,  where he was taken into custody by the Bellmawr Police Department.

Wednesday's Prison Sentence

Ramos-Rosado was sentenced to 60 years in New Jersey State Prison on first-degree murder and second-degree weapons offenses.

He was sentenced to five years in state prison for one weapons offense, which will run concurrently with the murder sentence.

Ramos-Rosado is required to serve 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act.
