Hi, it's Eddie Davis from the Lite 96.9 Feel Good Morning Show, inviting you to join me this Sunday, Oct. 12th, for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Join 5,000+ walkers for the 18th annual OCNJ Making Strides – a celebration of courage & hope to end breast cancer as we know it, for everyone.

The 5K walk starts at 10 am -- rain or shine --  near the Civic Center or at the Sixth Street & Boardwalk area, behind Ocean City High School.

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser is a celebration of courage and hope.

This non-competitive 5K walk unites participants of all ages to celebrate survivors, support those undergoing treatment, and honor those who have lost their battle with breast cancer.

If you or someone you love has had a breast cancer experience, please plan to join me and be part of the Making Strides walk on Sunday morning.

The Making Strides event will be filled with interactive tents for all ages, a celebration of the "Survivors and Thrivers" as they take a lap of the Ocean City High School track at 9:45 am, and good vibes everywhere you look.

Funds raised at the Ocean City walk contribute to services like patient assistance, lodging, and rides to treatment, as well as groundbreaking research to end breast cancer.

Facts About Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed among women in the United States.

It is the 2nd leading cause of death from cancer among women. Only lung cancer kills more women each year.

Approximately 1 in 8 women, or 13 %, will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and 1 in 43 will die from the disease.

Breast cancer typically has no symptoms when it is small and easily treated, which is why mammography screening is important for early detection.

The breast cancer death rate has dropped by 44% since 1989, although Black women still experience worse outcomes due to factors like access to care and a higher rate of aggressive subtypes.

Why the Making Strides Walk is Important.

The American Cancer Society couldn't do all it does: work to save lives, provide free lodging, answer your calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week/365 days a year, and fund groundbreaking research, without the support of the many sponsors who have joined with us on this mission to end breast cancer.

The 2024 Ocean City Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk raised $526,800 with the help of over 5,000 walkers, 150 survivors, and more than 15 sponsors.

The 2025 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Ocean City had a fundraising goal of $545,000 and has already raised over $237,000.

This event, presented by Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City, aims to unite the community to celebrate survivors, honor those lost, and raise funds to end breast cancer.
