Arsenic poisoning is typically the result of ingesting water that is contaminated.
This contamination can occur when using water that is contaminated to prepare foods.
Keep in mind that our bodies can presumably handle arsenic and other metals in low doses. However, high levels of arsenic can cause arsenic poisoning, and that can be very dangerous.
