New NJT Express Shuttle Links Vineland to Atlantic City Jobs
If you've ever tried unsuccessfully to get a ride to work in Atlantic City from Cumberland County, you will appreciate this news.
NJ Transit launched its new express shuttle service from Vineland to Atlantic City on Wednesday.
The idea for this new service is to connect workers from Cumberland County to employment opportunities in Atlantic City, specifically casino jobs, while reducing congestion and improving regional mobility.
How the Shuttle Works
The year-round service will travel from the Vineland Transportation Center at 110 W. Landis Avenue to the Atlantic City Bus Terminal at 1901 Atlantic Avenue.
The new service will offer two daily trips in each direction.
There will be NJTransit and Atlantic City jitney connections to the casinos for the arriving shuttles at the Atlantic City Bus Terminal.
The service will run a single bus on a split-shift schedule designed to align with local employer shift times.
Departures from the Vineland Transportation Center are scheduled for 5:35 am and 1:30 pm, heading to the Atlantic City Bus Terminal.
After a 45-minute layover, to accommodate employee shift changes, the return trips will depart the Atlantic City Bus Terminal at 7:45 am and 3:45 pm, arriving back at Vineland Transportation Center at 8:50 am and 4:50 pm, respectively.
More Shuttle Details
The cost per ride is $6, exact change. The drivers will not make change.
NJ TRANSIT monthly 8-zone bus passes will be honored by SJTA for travel on the shuttle.
The shuttle will offer a reduced fare policy: $3.00 for seniors, people with disabilities, or those with financial limitations.
“This express shuttle helps remove a key barrier for residents seeking employment in Atlantic City by making their commute more direct and efficient,” said NJ Transit President & CEO Kris Kolluri.
“It's one important initiative NJ Transit has committed to in support of Governor Murphy’s broader plan to deliver more responsive transit service throughout South Jersey.”
