Mystery Deepens in Hammonton’s Man’s Disappearance
The search for a Hammonton farmworker who has been missing for over a month continues, and Hammonton Police are again asking for help with any information.
Lizandro Guizar Sartiaguin was last seen at about 1 pm on Friday, February 27, when he left his home on Laurel Avenue in Hammonton.
A home surveillance video shared on Facebook shows Guizar Sartiaguin walking on Bridge Avenue in Hammonton on the day he disappeared, his cousin, Tony Sandoval, said.
Migrant Farmworker Is Still Missing
Guizar Sartiaguin is in America legally and has permanent resident status.
His family has still been checking in with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement database to make sure he wasn’t picked up as part of the ongoing immigration crackdown, Sandoval told NJ.com.
They haven't seen any trace of Guizar.
“He’s always been a hard worker, a family man. He has a wife and a daughter in Mexico. He’s here most of the time to work to take care of his family.”
His family says police conducted a large search of the Hammonton area in early March, including wooded areas close to town, but nothing turned up.
He doesn’t own a car, and his family has learned that he was looking for a ride the day he disappeared.
His phone, identification, and bank cards were all found in his room, according to his cousin.
Lizandro was wearing a gray jacket, blue jeans, and brown boots on the day he went missing.
Farmworker Has Suffered a Head Injury
The missing man suffered a serious head injury a few years ago that left him with lingering cognitive issues, his family said. Despite the injury, he kept working to support his family.
Guizar Sartiaguin works in the blueberry fields in Hammonton and has also worked in Maine during its blueberry season, which runs from mid-June until early August.
