Time for New Jersey Residents to Get the Flu Shot
💉 Flu Season Peaks from December through February
💉 September and October are Best Months to get the Shot
💉 It is Impossible to Get the Flu from the Shot
These days, many people are reluctant to get a Flu shot.
The primary reason is a lack of trust in the government as the result of stories about the Covid-19 vaccine.
However, the Flu shot is different, and even if you’re reluctant to get a COVID-19 shot, you should consider getting a Flu shot for your own good.
According to the CDC, the Flu never goes away.
You can get it any time of the year.
The peak season for influenza is December through February.
Once you get your shot, your body will need about two weeks to manufacture enough antibodies to fend off the Flu. It will take your body another two months to reach full protection.
That is why health experts suggest getting your shot from September through October.
The Flu shot doesn’t protect you from all strains of the virus. Experts can predict which strains are most likely to be prevalent each season, and the vaccine is manufactured accordingly.
The Flu is a virus that attacks our respiratory system.
It has many similar symptoms as a cold. It causes you to have a fever and it’s highly contagious.
Those with chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or a weakened immune system face real danger if they contract Flu. The Flu is also especially serious for those over the age of 55.
If you're over 65 or managing long-term health issues, getting the flu shot each year is crucial.
It reduces your chances of severe illness and hospitalization.
Some refuse the vaccination because they think it can cause them to get the Flu. The scientific reality is that getting the Flu from the shot is impossible.
The vaccine doesn’t contain the live virus.
Why do some people feel a bit run down after receiving the shot? That is your body building up immunity, not the Flu itself.
While the vaccine is relatively safe for most people, there are some people, for whom the Flu shot is not advised.
It’s always important to discuss with your healthcare provider before taking any medication.
