If there's one thing most of us in New Jersey can agree on, we love our beaches.

We take pride in talking about the Jersey Shore and the beauty we call our own.

People from all over, come to our coastline each year to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf.

Maintaining the beaches is a difficult job.

It seems like the job of keeping our beaches clean is never-ending.

Now, there's a way you can help, and it won't cost you anything but your time.

There's an organization called, New Jersey Clean Communities, and they're looking for volunteers to help maintain our beaches year-round.

They call it Adopt-a-Beach, and it was created by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and New Jersey Clean Communities Council as a way to encourage residents to help maintain our beaches and waterways.

As an organization, they schedule two statewide clean-ups each year- one in the spring and then again in the fall.

However, the bigger picture is the goal of finding volunteers who can help year-round.  Think about it, you can spend more time at the beach while also helping to maintain those beaches.

You may be asking, why should I volunteer?

While we do pay taxes, and expect others to deal with the job of cleaning the beaches, the reality is that they need help.

We all enjoy the beaches for their beauty.  The real question is why wouldn't we want to help?
