🔺 A juvenile suspect turned himself in to police
Law enforcement agencies all over the country are always looking for new technology in their quest to address crime.
It's been proven that oftentimes when police enforce non-violent, quality-of-life offenses, overall crime in a community tends to go down.
Crimes like graffiti may not seem like a big deal to some, but it has an impact on our quality of life.
It brings down property values and projects a feeling that an area isn't safe.
On the afternoon of Friday, January 10, officers from the Wildwood Police Department responded to a call at Juniper Avenue and the Boardwalk for a report about an incident involving graffiti on the boardwalk.
When the officers arrived, they found that a large section of the boardwalk was covered in graffiti.
The police were able to utilize a new boardwalk surveillance system to identify a male, juvenile suspect.
The suspect is a resident of the City of Wildwood.
Just three days after the incident was reported, the juvenile turned himself in at police headquarters.
Authorities say the juvenile was processed and released to his parent.
The juvenile, who was not named, is required to complete the station house adjustment program.
Additionally, he is responsible for paying restitution for the graffiti clean-up.
The City of Wildwood Police Department says they have received several reports of similar cases.
They say they are approaching each of these cases seriously to eliminate the quality of life offenses in the community.
The police cannot succeed without help from the community.
They are asking anyone with information to contact their detective division at: contact@wildwoodpd.com.
