Hulton Archive/Getty Images[/caption]When it comes to the music world, women certainly do rock.  And on this very day two years apart, two very different female artists each debuted her first solo album.  One is Madonna; the other is Stevie Nicks.  It was thirty-four years ago today that Stevie Nicks’ first solo album, "Bella Donna," was released.  Then exactly two years later, Madonna's self-titled debut album was released.  And the rest, as they say, is (music) history.

I've been a fan of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac for as long as I can remember.  With her strong presence in Fleetwood Mac, it was no surprise when she launched her solo career.  And I must say it's always interesting to see her die-hard fans at her live shows dressed up just like their idol.  Good times.  And that's not the easiest look to pull off!  But Stevie still does it well, and she does it with style.

And then there's Madonna.  I  must admit when she first came on the music scene, I wasn't much of a fan.  I didn't like dance music at the time (being the rock 'n' roll chick that I was.  LOL).  And the little girls dressed as Madonna who came into the record store where I worked looked way too young to be dressed that way.  But I still remember seeing her debut on American Bandstand, and something about her confidence (or was it cockiness?) stuck in my head.  She told Dick Clark she wanted to rule the world, and she pretty much did.

Madonna and Stevie Nicks (and the many women who came along after them) have proven that the music world is not a man's world anymore.  And one thing's for sure...Women Rock.  Yeah they do.  :)
