The contest recognizes store associates for fighting hunger in their local communities.

This year, there were winners from ShopRite locations in Egg Harbor Township (English Creek), Galloway, Marmora, Rio Grande, and Somers Point. The winners will be feature on the box, which will be unveiled at in-store ceremonies planned for this week. The winners are being celebrated for their fundraising efforts that supports regional food banks.

According to ShopRite:

ShopRite associates across hundreds of stores compete each fall in a friendly competition sponsored by ShopRite and General Mills, the annual ShopRite Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest. With this year’s contest theme, “Ending Hunger Together,” serving as the backdrop, ShopRite associates came together last September (Hunger Action Month) to collect donations at check-out, helping raise $1 million for regional food banks in several states. The 45 top fundraising ShopRite stores select two associates to be featured on special-edition Cheerios boxes, sold exclusively at ShopRite and unveiled during in-store celebrations during March and April. Each winning store will also receive prize money ($3,000 for the top five stores, and $500 for the remaining winning stores) that will be donated to local food pantries chosen by the respective store teams.

Store-wise, the English Creek location placed 3rd among the ShopRite locations, with the store raising $14,813 to fight hunger.
